Introduction to the Kingmaker campaign

As you and your friends exit through the maze of tunnels beneath the Stadium of Tyr, you can hear the crowd roar. Sounds like the previous match is ending, and soon it will be your turn to fight before what sounds like a frenzied crowd.

It has been weeks of hard training with your new friends, just for this day. Day in and out. This is when it is all supposed to come together, in the gladiatorial stadium, where you will take the first step on your road to fame and fortune. For some of you, it's a dream to stand in the area and fight others for the pleasure of the citizens of Tyr. For others, it's simply a means to an end. Because winning fights means exposure of your skills and golden bits in your pocket. Naturally, the money is nice, but especially the exposure can mean a lot more, as merchants, nobles and other powerful people of Tyr often come to the arena, to find whatever they need for the next thing they need done.

The gate creaks loudly as it rises, and you all enter the arena. You do see your opponents yet, but that is no wonder. The very first time you enter the lists, and you draw an "Invisible" match - a match where your opponent is kept a secret until the fight starts.

As you enter the arena, which for the occasion has been filled with sand dunes, you pray that you will not be facing savages or monsters from the desert, since they are the only fights nowadays that are fought to the death.
